Kenmore Cooktops

Kenmore cooktops are zones in a counter cutout: induction glass or gas burners. They are not ranges. Ownership starts with fuel type and whether the glass is intact.

About this appliance

Appliance overview

Induction refuses nonmagnetic pans on purpose. That is not a failed Kenmore zone. Gas cutouts still need clean ports and a spark that meets the gas. A range with burners on top is the ranges category even if you never use the oven.

This page is the ownership briefing. Cooktop repair is the visit. How many zones, induction versus gas, whether a downdraft sits in the same cutout — then ventilation may also be involved.

This site does not publish a brand list of approved pans. A magnet and a flat bottom are the practical tests for induction. Size still has to match the zone. A crack in the glass is a disconnect-and-wait condition.
