Error codeF2
ApplianceRange
Quick answer
F2 is a defective upper oven temperature sensor on Elite 721 ranges and an oven over-temperature code on 362 models.
Model compatibility
Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
F2 is a defective upper oven temperature sensor on Elite 721 ranges, and oven over-temperature on Kenmore 362 freestanding ranges.
F2 is another oven temperature code on Kenmore ranges, and again the meaning follows the series.
Elite 721 electric and double-oven gas ranges
F2 means a defective upper oven temperature sensor. The manual says to unplug the range and have the sensor’s resistance measured, replacing the sensor if the reading is off. The same chart lists F1 and F8 with this fault.
362 freestanding range
F2 is an oven over-temperature. If the oven actually overheated, the electronic control board likely has a stuck relay and is replaced. If the oven is at room temperature, the oven temperature sensor could be defective: unplug the range, disconnect the sensor and have it measured. A sensor that is off is replaced, and a normal reading points back to the electronic control board.
Related Kenmore range codes
F2/E0 is a keypad harness fault, not a temperature one.
If F2 keeps appearing, call (310) 554-8899 for Kenmore range repair in Los Angeles. An oven that gets too hot should stay off until it is looked at, so say so when you call, along with the model number.
Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
