Quick answer
F10 is an upper oven door lock failure on Elite 721 ranges and runaway oven temperature on 790-prefix, slide-in and glass touch ranges.

Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F10 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
F10 is an upper oven door lock failure on Elite 721 ranges, or runaway oven temperature above 600 F on 790-prefix, slide-in and glass touch ranges.
F10 appears on several Kenmore ranges, and it can mean two very different things: a door lock problem or an oven that is getting too hot.
Elite 721 ranges: upper oven door lock failure
This applies to the Elite 721-prefix electric range and the Elite double-oven gas range with 721 model numbers. The manual’s order is: unplug the range, check the wire harness connections between the upper oven door lock motor and the relay control board, and check the harness between the door lock switches and the oven control board. Reconnect loose wires. Broken wires need repair. A technician then measures the door lock motor, and the upper oven door lock assembly is replaced if it reads infinite resistance.
Runaway oven temperature
On 790-prefix self-cleaning electric ranges (2004 and newer), 2014 self-cleaning models, the Elite 790.4671 slide-in electric range, glass touch electric ranges, and Elite slide-in gas or dual-fuel ranges (790.3263, 790.3264, 790.4260, 790.4261, 790.4275, 790.4276), F10 means the oven temperature is above 600 F and still rising.
If the oven is not actually overheating, check the oven temperature sensor probe and power cycle the range.
If it is overheating, disconnect power right away.
If it overheats again once power returns, the electronic oven control board is the part the manual names.
The manual adds that severe overheating can mean the range itself has to be replaced when the damage is extensive.
An oven that heats on its own is not something to keep running. Call (310) 554-8899 for Kenmore range service in Los Angeles, and tell us the code, the model number and whether the door lock or the temperature was the issue.
Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
