Quick answer
F93 on a Kenmore range means the maximum oven door lock time was exceeded, or a door lock failure on glass touch and slide-in models.
Model compatibility
Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F93 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
Maximum oven door lock time exceeded, shown as an oven door lock failure on some series.
F93 tells you the oven door lock did not finish locking within the allowed time. That reading applies to Kenmore electric freestanding self-cleaning ranges starting with 790 (2004 and newer) and to Kenmore self-cleaning electric ranges from 2014. On Kenmore glass touch electric ranges and on Elite slide-in gas or dual-fuel ranges, the same display is described only as an oven door lock failure.
If you own a 790 or 2014 range
The manual’s list is for a technician. It covers the wiring to the lock motor microswitch, binding in the cams and rod of the latch, an open lock motor coil, and a lock motor that keeps running with the microswitch open. An open oven door light switch is replaced as well. The electronic oven control board is the last part on the list.
If you own a glass touch or Elite slide-in range
The slide-in models are numbered 790.3263, 790.3264, 790.4260, 790.4261, 790.4275 and 790.4276. For them, the manual reads in this order:
When the door will not lock or unlock, cut the power, give it 30 seconds and restore it.
Attempt a lock with the oven lockout feature or a clean cycle.
Use the cancel button if the door did not unlock.
If the lock motor still does not run, disconnect power and examine the wire harness between the door lock assembly and the oven control board. Loose wires go back on and a damaged harness is replaced.
With good wiring, replace the door lock assembly. The relay control board follows if the problem continues.
If the door will not lock or unlock after the steps above, call (310) 554-8899 about Kenmore range repair in Los Angeles. Tell us the model number, the F93 display and how the lock behaved.
Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
