Error code LE
Appliance Dishwasher
Quick answer

LE means the circulation pump motor is locked up on Kenmore dishwashers with model numbers beginning 722.146.

Model compatibility

Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so LE may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

Locked-up circulation pump motor.

LE on a Kenmore dishwasher is the locked-up circulation pump motor code. The manual lists it for dishwashers with model numbers beginning 722.146.

What the owner can check

  1. Unplug the dishwasher.
  2. Look for an obstruction stopping the pump impeller from turning, and remove any debris or foreign objects from the sump.
  3. If the impeller is clear, check the wiring connections on the pump and reconnect any that are loose.

What a technician checks

The rest is meter work: resistance through the motor windings and the RPM sensor, then through the motor wires that run to the electronic control board. A bad reading on the motor means a new circulation motor; good readings all the way back to the board point to a control board that is not sending current to the motor. Broken motor wiring is repaired.

Related codes

  • OE: not draining, another pump-side fault.
  • nE: diverter motor failure.
  • HE: heating failure.
